Facts and Figures
V-SAC has a permanent presence in the Criminal Courts of Justice (Parkgate Street), Dublin, but the cases it handles come from all parts of the country. V-SAC commenced the final phase of its national expansion, with the formal opening of its new Cork city office by the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee in September. This means that no matter what court a victim is due to attend, they have access to V-SAC support service every day they come to court.
During 2024, V-SAC’s 80+ volunteers provided support 8,372 times to 3,123 victims of crime, their families and witnesses, our busiest year on record. The cases involved homicides, rape/sexual assault, assault and domestic violence, among others (including death by dangerous driving, criminal damage, theft, etc) in the Central Criminal, Circuit and District Courts.
